Tina Allen, an internationally renowned expert in the field of children's and infant massage therapy, will lead a set of groundbreaking sessions on pediatric massage at the 2012 American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) National Convention.

Allen, who is also the founder of foremost children's health and nurturing touch organization the Liddle Kidz(TM) Foundation, will present two courses related to massage for children. The first, on Friday, Oct. 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will focus on pediatric massage for children diagnosed with autism and ADD/ADHD. The second, also on Friday, Oct. 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will cover massage for children affected by cerebral palsy.
"I am very excited to share the important benefits of pediatric massage at this year's AMTA National Convention," said Allen. "I hope my presentations inspire other conference attendees to learn more about infant massage and children's massage therapy. These techniques provide tremendous benefits to children impacted by ADD, ADHD, cerebral palsy and other health-related challenges."

Allen's sessions will highlight specific research and techniques related to massage for children, as well as a discussion of the benefits associated with pediatric massage in general. For example, massage therapy can reduce the cost of lifelong care for a child with autism or ADD/ADHD by as much as two-thirds. For children with cerebral palsy, it can decrease spasticity, produce a less rigid muscle tone and improve motor functioning.

"Massage is an effective form of therapy for many children with developmental disorders and other health issues," said Allen. "I would like to invite all massage professionals who are interested in providing the best possible care for children to attend these sessions."

The 2012 AMTA National Convention runs from Oct. 3 through Oct. 6 in Raleigh, NC. The organization offers education, product discounts, guidance and more to massage therapy professionals across the United States.
