Merit Property Management, a FirstService Residential Management company, has been selected by the Rancho Mission Viejo company to provide property management services for its newest community development called Rancho Mission Viejo that will include more than 14,000 homes, a gated active adult neighborhood, a sports field, neighborhood parks, access to trails, a 10-acre retail center and recreational facilities among many other amenities.

Merit's consulting company, Merit Association Services, was brought on in 2011 to assist with operational planning and California Department of Real Estate budgeting process. The readiness planning is underway for the first two villages called Sendero and Gavilan. Merit will also assume property management services starting with the first villages of Sendero and Gavilan.

The Ranch Plan is an open space and land use strategy for the remaining 22,815 acres of Rancho Mission Viejo. More than 14,000 homes and five million square feet of commercial space are being planned with over 15,132 acres designated for open space. The community will include Sendero, a development of 940 homes and 200 apartments located where Ortega Highway meets Antonio Parkway, just east of San Juan Capistrano. The 690-acre Sendero has a grand opening date of summer 2013.
