Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh and Jardine, P.C. has filed a lawsuit against the National Football League (NFL), on behalf of former Denver Bronco, David Studdard. The lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado seeks damages on behalf of Mr. Studdard for traumatic brain injury, allegedly caused by multiple concussions suffered during Mr. Studdard's 10-year career with the Denver Broncos.

Burg Simpson shareholder Seth A. Katz, one of Mr. Studdard's attorneys said, "Between the decades of the 1960s and 2000s, sports medicine revealed a clear link between multiple concussions and the onset of more serious post traumatic brain injuries resulting in chronic headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, impulse control problems, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It is my belief that the NFL should have been aware of the risk, and should have acted to prevent these injuries."

Fellow Burg Simpson attorney, Stephen J. Burg said, "A brain injury can have a devastating impact on an NFL player. Its effects can last a lifetime and dramatically alter the life of a retired player."

The NFL oversees America's most popular spectator sport, football, and acts as a trade association for 32-team franchise owners. The NFL governs and promotes the game of football, sets and enforces rules. The teams share a percentage of the League's overall revenue.

A 2008 Forbes magazine article stated that 19 NFL franchises are worth $1 billion or more.
