On Tuesday April 17, 2012, Alexandro Guzman was stopped in his 2002 Ford Taurus in the southernmost westbound lane at the intersection of 50th Street and Loop 289 Access Road in Lubbock, Texas. Freeman, while in the course and scope of his employment with Sodexo, Inc., was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck northbound on the access road and failed to stop at a red light. When Freeman ran the red light, he struck a 2007 Toyota Tundra that was proceeding eastbound through the intersection under a green light. Freeman crashed his truck into the Toyota Tundra pickup causing it to skid sideways, flip, and land on top of Guzmans vehicle. The collision caused severe injuries to Guzman.
