Carbon Sciences Inc. (OTCBB: CABN), the developer of breakthrough technologies to make transportation fuels, hydrogen and other valuable products from natural gas, today announced its president and CEO, Byron Elton was spotlighted Monday on the FOX Business Network program Markets Now, in addition to being featured on Forbes.com last week.
Sharing details about how Carbon Sciences is developing catalysts to convert natural gas into syngas and hydrogen, Elton explained the best avenue to U.S. energy independence and energy security is through the development and prioritization of natural gas resources found in the U.S.
“There are three hydrocarbons used for fuel, one is coal, one is natural gas and one is petroleum,” said Elton. “Most people are unaware that all the products currently made from petroleum can be made from natural gas and we happen to have an abundance of it here in the United States. The energy issues this country faces are intertwined with national security, the economy and politics, but at their core they boil down to the fact that we have the natural resources and the technology to have both energy independence and security. It just makes sense to prioritize the development of this resource.”
Carbon Sciences recently announced successful testing of its steam methane reforming (SMR) catalyst for the production of hydrogen from natural gas, a $150 billion a year market. The company’s suite of catalysts, currently in development, will reduce the cost of converting natural gas into engine-ready transportation fuels, hydrogen as well as a number of other products currently produced from petroleum. The company anticipates it will have licensing agreements in place with manufacturers by 2014, an accelerated timeline in the energy development space.

About Carbon Sciences, Inc.
Innovating at the forefront of chemical engineering, Carbon Sciences is developing a breakthrough technology to make cleaner and greener transportation fuels, hydrogen and other valuable products from natural gas. Our highly scalable, clean-tech process will enable the world to reduce its dependence on petroleum by transforming abundant and affordable natural gas into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, and other products, such as hydrogen, methanol, pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides and plastics. The key to this process is a breakthrough catalyst that can reduce the cost of reforming natural gas into synthetic gas (syngas), the most costly step in making products from natural gas.
