Most Common Caravan Owner Professions Are Revealed
According to the recent research by The Trading Floor, a part of Callcredit Information Group, public sector specialists make the top six professions for caravan ownership.
(PRBuzz.com) May 25, 2012 -- Shieldtotalinsurance.co.uk - Shield static and touring caravan insurance buyers may be surprised to find out that public sector professionals such as teachers and engineers are most commonly found among caravan owners, according to the research carried out by The Trading Floor, now a part of Callcredit Information Group, with a database on 8.8 million motorists.
The Trading Floor's survey was aimed at studying the correlation between caravan ownership and occupation. It was discovered that the top six professions among caravan owners include teachers, engineers, company directors, police officers, civil servants and nurses. They are followed by builders, factory workers, sales assistants and mechanics accordingly. It can be noticed that the top professions on the list belong to the public sector.
The results of the research seem less surprising after analysing the current UK economic situation. Thus, about 5% more Britons chose to holiday within the UK instead of going overseas in 2011 compared to 2010 because of financial difficulties that had seriously affected the travel budget of the average Briton.
This trend among people who can't afford going on holiday abroad has had a positive impact on UK domestic tourism. The caravan industry contributes about £6 billion to the UK economy today. Over the next several years, caravan and camping industry revenue is likely to grow even more. IBISWorld industry analyst Craig Shulman added that the improvement in household disposable income, the unemployment rate as well as consumer and business confidence will also contribute to the industry recovery.
The managing director of the Trading Floor Chris McDonald pointed out that the popularity of caravan holidays among public sector specialists can be explained by "the charms of caravan ownership". He added, "Our study of caravan owners that are still in employment has shown that a surprising range of people have opted for the freedom a caravan can provide."
