“This accident was one of the most ghastly and sickening events first responders had even seen. A 41-year-old advertising executive met her death while getting on to an elevator in her building. As she was about halfway in, the car abruptly shot up about 20 feet, with its doors wide open. The Department of Buildings will be looking into what other, if any, safety violations may have played a part in this woman’s shocking demise. There is no question negligence played a large role in this wrongful death,” added Monroe.
