The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) announced today that the college would offer a minor in entrepreneurship beginning in the fall of 2013. The entrepreneurship minor will be available to all undergraduate students regardless of their major area of study.

SDSU’s College of Business Administration is among an elite set of business schools across the U.S. to offer an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship minor which include the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton), University of Southern California (Marshall), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler), and the Rutgers Business School.

The entrepreneurship minor was championed by Dr. Alex DeNoble, director of SDSU’s Lavin Entrepreneurship Center and SDSU management professor and entrepreneurship expert, Dr. Congcong Zheng.

“Through the resources of the College of Business and the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, we are focused on preparing the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said DeNoble. “This new entrepreneurship minor is a significant milestone in our quest to build a world-class program for entrepreneurs here at SDSU.”

“In the current economic and social environment, small businesses are the most important sources of job creation and it is critical that we offer students from all majors the basic knowledge to successfully pursue and launch their entrepreneurial endeavors,” added Zheng. “Additionally, it is good for business majors to work with students from across the campus since they will benefit from an infusion of perspectives from engineering, the arts and other disciplines.”
