Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in engineering and technology consulting services, is proud to introduce High Definition Surveying and 3D Laser Scanning capabilities to complement its full line of land surveying services.
Chris Dodson, Principal of the Field Operations Division says, "The incorporation of the Leica ScanStation C10 into our existing range of surveying equipment provides us the added versatility to take on any challenge."
3D Laser Scanning sometimes referred to as High Definition Surveying (HDS) or ground based LIDAR, is a process by which large volumes of highly accurate data is captured at a rapid pace. This alternative method to traditional survey techniques is used to acquire data in the form of a 3-Dimensional cloud of points. The resulting point cloud contains millions of points collected at such a high resolution that shapes of complex objects can be measured with great detail. This new, fast and versatile scan system is capable of collecting up to 50,000 data points per second over a full field of view with accuracies measured in millimeters from a remote and safe location. This method is very beneficial for capturing data in congested, hazardous or hard to reach areas.
