In a new blog entry posted on retail thought leadership site WhatsNextRetail.com today, Junction Solutions Vice President Jeff Marker gave additional reasons why owning the retail value chain is critical for retailers who are looking to grow revenues. Marker frequently writes and speaks on the retail value chain and suggests strategies on how retailers can own the value chain in order to increase revenue and grow their business.
Marker said, "Retailers who truly understand their customer can own the retail value chain and thus be in position for great success. Unfortunately, many retailers lose control of their value chain and don't understand their customers enough to survive."
In the blog post, Marker, who is an acclaimed expert on multi-channel management and business solutions for retailers, wrote that there are three critical underlying elements in the retail value chain that must be strong to ensure success in merchandising, marketing, and distribution. He writes that applying understanding of these will lead to ownership of the retail value chain which will lead to increased revenues.
The three underlying elements are: (1) Being customer-centric, (2) Defining what your brand promises, and (3) Continuing to define and refine your brand. In the blog post, Marker lists actions retailers must take to ensure that the retail chain strong.
