Matthew Najar: Bucking Musical Trends, but for how long?
(PRBuzz.com) May 22, 2012 -- Singer Matthew Najar has recently enjoyed widespread commercial success with his 2011-released dance single 'Don't Wanna Be', peaking at number 4 on the US Billboard charts intermittently over the past two months, only recently being replaced by Rihanna this week. Despite being a last-year release the increased interested in this single stems from the anticipation of Najar's highly anticipated association with being the main support act for megastar Usher's upcoming American live performances.

It was revealed that Najar would be contracted to support megastar Usher on his American leg of his 'Looking 4 Myself' tour. Market analysts claim that it isn't uncommon for entertainers to enjoy commercial success on the brink of mass public appearances; renewed interest from the public in older material can sometimes outweigh more recent material releases as has been seen in the case of Usher. Being attached to a higher celebrity powers name has significantly contributed to the increased interest in Najar's music.

Key leading industry experts and Hollywood observers alike have long pointed out a decline in new artists breaking into the Billboard charts since the early 00s, but Najar is an outlier, bucking the trend. His successes have led to him having his own European and American tours (with preparation currently underway) being scheduled. It has been rumoured that Najar is working on a dual album release to support his consequential tours with one studio and one live album being speculated.

Being associated with megastar concert tours and preparing for his own tours haven't been enough for Najar. Over the summer he has been relinked to actress Keira Knightley (in a semi-romantic sense, following on from his initial connection to the actress originally reported by Entertainment Tonight last September) causing a stir amongst the United Kingdom's paparazzi; also he has become notorious for not attending award shows to collect his takings, recently not appearing to collect awards won at California's Young Talent Awards 2012 (recently televised on CBS).

The charting performance of 'Don't Wanna Be' and interest in his upcoming support for Usher's American tour seem to be interrelated, there is no doubt. Time will tell if this singer can maintain public interest and momentum for his own upcoming musical releases and tours, relationships with pretty actresses and being a bad-boy no-show can only get you so far. Bucking the trend once is one thing, keeping relevancy is another.
