Dallas Pastor Ed Young Finds Teachings Affirmed by New "7 Days of Sex" TV Show
A new TV series finds couples seeking to rekindle their intimacy, enjoying sex together every day for a week--a premise that, surprisingly, affirms the teachings of pastor and author Ed Young.
Grapevine, Texas (PRBuzz) June 1, 2012 -- A new TV series, airing on the Lifetime network, offers viewers an unconventional view of sexual intimacy--but what might prove most surprising about the series is how it offers affirmation to the teachings of Dallas pastor and author Ed Young. The new reality series, called 7 Days of Sex, centers on couples seeking to rekindle their intimacy and their passion for one another, embarking on a challenge to have sex together every day for a full week. This premise will undoubtedly sound familiar to Ed Young's readers--and particularly to readers of his most recent book, Sexperiment.
Ed Young, a pastor and author based in the Dallas area, has long taught about the importance of sexual intimacy within a marriage, his pragmatic and pastoral approach setting him apart from other religious figures, who often avoid the topic of sex altogether. Sexperiment is a full-length exploration of the many benefits that married couples receive when they practice regular sexual intimacy--but the book also serves as a challenge, exhorting married couples to have sex together every day for a week.
The premise of the book and the new TV series are so similar, Ed Young felt compelled to offer a statement on the similarities. In his press statement, Young says, "The idea for this show is great. But it's vital to understand that sex isn't just sex. Simply having seven days of sex in a row isn't what is going to help restore a marriage."
Dallas pastor Ed Young continues, noting some of the other key components to building a healthy, happy marriage. "The key is what surrounds that time, like communication, intimacy, and everything else that builds the marriage. So yes, the seven days of sex is great. Just make sure the intimacy continues after that week, as well!"
Ed Young's Sexperiment, written alongside wife Lisa, was released earlier this year, and chronicles the myriad benefits that married couples receive when they make sexual intimacy a priority. In the book, Young writes that while sex is not the only important part of a marriage, its significance cannot be denied. He lists many of the benefits of regular sexual intimacy, among them better standards of communication and increased standards of purity.
The book includes practical advice for married couples seeking to improve their intimacy. Written with Christian couples in mind, the book is also useful as a teaching aide.
Ed Young is the founding pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas. He has written 13 books, including his latest release, Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy with Your Spouse. The book, co-authored with his wife, Lisa, has garnered a great deal of attention for its unconventional take on the importance of sex within a marriage. While many religious leaders avoid the topic, Ed Young has preached the importance of intimacy within a marriage for years. He is also a passionate teacher on the topics of family, parenting, and more.
